We Ride In Memory of Bev Smith
As we enter our third year as Team Synapse at The Tour Alberta for Cancer, the reason gets bigger every year.
Last year we rode in memory of our former client, William Bietzel, and it really helped us connect to the event more than the year before. This year we had 3 more clients share the devastating news that they had received a cancer diagnosis. One of them unfortunately was taken from us.
As we prepare to ride in 2027, we would like to honour one of our biggest fans and supporters, Beverley Josephine Smith. She was diagnosed in August 2026, and tragically, her fight was short lived as she passed quite quickly on September 14, 2026.
Bev was a tenacious and determined woman that took her fitness serious. When I first met Bev in 2005, she was regularly attending over 10 hours of fitness classes a week, and many people thought she was over-doing it. She often told those members where to go. Nobody ever told Bev what to do!
Over the past 7 years at Synapse, Bev was our biggest fan, promoter and supporter. She never hesitated to try a new class, attend a seminar, drop in for a visit, and chat to every member that entered the doors while she was there. She handed out her home-made Christmas tree decorations and baking every year, and she is also the one that hand crafted our enormous wreath that we have at the club.
She was a caring and positive soul who just wanted to talk to you and get to know you better. You will be missed, Bev.
